Didim to host international yacht races
25 January 2010
Turkey’s biggest marina, based in Didim, is gearing up for 2010 as it will host international yacht races and begin chartered ferry services to Samos and Bodrum.
D-Marin, which last year was included as a leg in two prestigious races, will be involved in the Turkey Open Sea Sailing Club Race this year in July and the Shop and Miles Cup in August.
In September, the Istanbul Cup, which begins in France and finishes in Istanbul, and October’s Bodrum Cup, have included D-Marin as one of the stop off points for competitors.
A D-Marin spokesman said it has initiated publicity campaigns in France, Italy, UK, Russia, Germany, Croatia, Greece and Turkey, with presences at the La Rochelle, Canova and Paris Maritime Fairs, and with plans to attend the London, Dusseldorf and Moscow Fairs.
The D-Marin management envisaged cruises to the Greek Islands in the spring, while they were also planning Didim – Bodrum scheduled cruises.
D-Marin has reached 22 per cent occupancy at its wet dock and 25 per cent in dry dock.
D-Marin, which can host yachts up to 50 metres, is built on 125 acres, with 70.000 metre squared concrete slip area and 19 commercial areas.
The Yacht Club at the marina is open and the sports facility will be opened soon.
