Hilton to open 15 new hotels in Turkey
15 January 2010
Hilton Worldwide Europe President Simon Vincent said today that the group would open 15 new hotels in Turkey in the next three years, Anatolia news agency reports.
Therefore, the number of Hilton hotels in Turkey would increase from nine to 24, added Vincent who held a press conference in Istanbul. Vincent recalled that Hilton had been in Turkey over 55 years.
Hilton is the first international hotel trademark which invested in Turkey, he said. Vincent noted that Hilton Worldwide served with over 3,500 hotels under ten trademarks in 85 countries. He added that Hilton opened 331 hotels in the world in 2008, and nearly 300 hotels in 2009 despite the global economic crisis.
Underlining that Hilton Worldwide was continuing to grow, Vincent said that Turkey had an important role in this growth and it was one of the five countries which had growth potential in Europe. Vincent added that Hilton had a good cooperation with Sabanci and Dogan families in Turkey. Noting that Turkey and especially Istanbul was an important "commercial tourist" center, Vincent said that Turkey would rise to the second place after Britain in Europe when Hilton opened 15 new hotels.
