Searches for Turkish property on increase
27 March 2009
The number of people searching for properties in Turkey has substantially increased over the past year, PropertyIndex.com website reports.
Online searches for Turkish property increased by 286 per cent between February 2008 and February 2009, according to the overseas listings website.
The property magazine Jet-to-Let also voted Turkey as the tenth most popular destination for buying overseas property last month.
Adam Samuel, a director at the overseas real estate resource Nubricks.com, says Turkish property currently performs better than nearby nations such as Bulgaria and Romania.
He adds: "Probably the key to why Turkey is still of interest to people is because it hasn't joined the EU and the prices are extremely cheap compared to most other [places] on the market."
