Monarch expands its programme to Turkey for summer 2009

14 April 2009

Award winning airline Monarch (www.monarch.co.uk), has announced further expansion to its Turkey flying programme for this summer in response to strong demand from customers looking to escape the Eurozone and take advantage of the stronger sterling exchange rate vs the Turkish Lira.

An additional charter flight from Gatwick to Antalya will operate weekly from 27 May meaning that Monarch will operate twice weekly flights from Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham to Turkey’s Mediterranean Coast this summer. Services to Antalya operate in addition to Monarch’s charter flights to Dalaman and Bodrum, which also depart from Monarch’s key UK bases.

Commenting on the increased demand for services to Turkey, managing director of Monarch Flights and Holidays, Liz Savage said, “Turkey really is having a bumper year which is a result of strong demand from customers dynamically packaging their holidays i.e. arranging flights and accommodation separately, and also from customers booking holiday packages. All inclusive holidays are proving to be the most popular choice for UK bookers this summer, as these not only offer a high quality product, but are also very competitively priced. Turkey is also becoming more popular as a short break destination which is why we are flying to some Turkish gateways virtually every day of the week.”

“The increased frequencies also enable families to consider more flexible durations to fit in with their holiday budget and plans. Many customers are no longer looking for a traditional 14 night break, but are preferring to get away for nine or ten nights instead”.

Fares to Turkey with Monarch start from £258 per person inclusive of all taxes, charges and 20kg of hold baggage. Flights can be booked via www.monarch.co.uk.

Monarch currently operates a fleet of 31 aircraft, serving over 100 destinations world-wide. Services are split between scheduled and charter flights, with the airline carrying over 7 million passengers per year.

In addition to flights, Monarch also now offers a huge range of great value holidays, accommodation options, car hire and travel insurance.
