17 October 2008

The region of Antalya has been praised by the English-language newspaper the Turkish Daily News as "a city of sea, sun, sand, history and nature".

Described as being on its way to becoming "one of the most important cultural centres in Europe", the region is Turkey's principal holiday resort.

The Antalya museum comes in for special praise as one of the most important museums in the country and features a variety of exhibitions from excavation findings to underwater and ethnography sections.

Antalya also boasts a 36,614-hectare national park within its city limits along the Karain cave and the Kursunlu waterfall.
