Second home-buyers advised to consider Turkey

15 November 2008

British homeowners have been advised to consider Turkey as a prime spot for a second home by an overseas estate expert.

Andrew Hawkins, head of Chesterton International estate agents, said that Turkey had transformed dramatically in the last ten years, and offers much potential.

Describing the country as becoming more accessible and cheaper than many other popular Mediterranean destinations, he added that it has one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.

Mr Hawkins said: "People have a perception of Turkey as being on the border between Europe and the Middle East.

"You can have the best of both worlds – European quality and standards in a more exotic setting."

He also warned that buyers needed to be aware when hunting for property as while cheaper locations could pose risks to those lacking knowledge.
