Turkey tipped as an affordable holiday hotspot
30 December 2008
Turkey offers great value for tourists, it has been claimed. According to the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), the euro-free destination offers much better value against the pound for holidaymakers.
Figures show that demand for travel to Turkey was up 32 per cent last year and travel experts have said they expect this pattern to continue in 2009.
An ABTA spokesman said: "With the position of the currencies unlikely to get much better we expect people will continue to look further afield to north Africa and Turkey, which offer much better value for money and where you can still find dinner for two for £20."
Holiday airlines easyJet and Ryanair have increased flights to Turkey in the last 18 months to reflect the growing demand.
